Disney+ is set to unveil Knock-Off, a compelling South Korean black comedy crime drama starring Kim Soo-hyun and Jo Bo-ah. Directed by Park Hyun-seok and penned by Han Jung-hoon, the series delves into the murky world of counterfeit goods in the aftermath of the 1997 Asian financial crisis.

Plot Overview

Knock-Off follows Kim Seong-jun (Kim Soo-hyun), an ordinary office worker whose life spirals after losing his job during the financial downturn. Desperate and resourceful, he enters the illicit counterfeit market, rapidly ascending to become the vice president of the notorious Saemmul Market. His journey is fraught with moral dilemmas and the constant threat of law enforcement.

Complicating matters is Song Hye-jung (Jo Bo-ah), Seong-jun's ex-girlfriend and a dedicated special judicial police officer tasked with cracking down on counterfeit operations. Their intertwined past and opposing current roles set the stage for a tense cat-and-mouse dynamic.

The narrative aims to authentically depict the late 1990s and early 2000s in Korean society, emphasizing the emotional and societal impacts of the era.


Release Information

Initially slated for an April 2025 release on Disney+, the series faced delays due to controversies surrounding lead actor Kim Soo-hyun. As of now, the release has been postponed indefinitely, with no confirmed premiere date announced.
